Television is hypnotic and addictive. The programs, commercials, graphics, and colours are designed to overwhelm our minds. In effect, we are being brainwashed to suspend our judgement and buy products we don't need. If we can't stop watching TV, we should simply get rid of it. I don't own a TV and haven't watched it in years. Getting rid of my TV was liberating. It gave me more time to think, read, write, socialise, exercise, relax, and sleep. I'm sure it will do the same for others. We need to live our real lives, not the fantasy lives of TV characters.
